چکیده
Comparable cases could then only be detected by detailed individual study, as statistical analyses of extensive clinical material would be likely to submerge the rare but significant case. The selectivity of impairment of function demonstrated here must be based on a comparable anatomical differentiation of the neural structures implicated. While information available about the present case permits no speculations in terms of the precise anatomy of the relevant cortical locus, the findings would best be explained on models of cerebral functioning which incorporate the occurrence of certain transformations along anatomically separate and distinctive lines of communication, with the possibility of their selective disconnexion by naturally occurring disease.

Effect of Melatonin on Serum Levels of INF-1β and Vitamin B12 in Patients With Multiple Sclerosis: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Background: Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune disease due to the demyelination of axons in the central nervous system. Melatonin, as a hormone with potential anti-inflammatory effects, can reduce the MS symptoms by altering the levels of inflammatory mediators. Methods: In this study, 50 MS patients referred to the MS Society in Markazi Province were randomly selected. Each patie...
متن کاملVitamin B12 Levels in the Serum and Cerebrospinal Fluid in Multiple Sclerosis.
Vitamin B12 has been widely used in the treatment of neurological disease, if only as a placebo. Whilst the results of a series of uncontrolled trials of its use in multiple sclerosis have not been impressive (Lereboullet, Pluvinage, and Coty, 1950; Schumacher, 1950; Simson, Herfort, Krim, and Meyer, 1950; Booth, Lawyer, and von Storch, 1951; Lereboullet and Pluvinage, 1952; Levin, 1955), there...
متن کاملVitamin B12 metabolism and massive-dose methyl vitamin B12 therapy in Japanese patients with multiple sclerosis.
Serum vitamin B12 levels and unsaturated vitamin B12 binding capacities were measured in 24 patients with multiple sclerosis (MS), 73 patients with other neurological disorders and 21 healthy subjects. There was no decrease in the vitamin B12 levels, however, a significant decrease in the unsaturated vitamin B12 binding capacities was observed in patients with MS when compared with other groups...
متن کاملP 31: Reduce Inflammation and Hypothalamic Disorders in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis
Introduction: Multiple sclerosis (MS) and its animal model, experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), is a chronic inflammatory diseases and degenerative myelin in the CNS. With respect to being the main cause of this disease is unknown; the most common treatments for the disease (MS) with the aim of suppressing harmful inflammatory responses are used. Neuro transmitters having immunosup...
متن کاملObservations on Vitamin B12 in Serum and Cerebrospinal Fluid in Multiple Sclerosis.
There are several claims that B(12) concentrations in serum and cerebrospinal fluid are grossly abnormal in multiple sclerosis, but results are conflicting. This paper reports measurements of these concentrations in 40 serum samples and 23 samples of lumbar cerebrospinal fluid from cases of multiple sclerosis, and in appropriate controls, using Euglena gracilis, z strain. The serum concentratio...
